Game B Animal Crossing New Horizons [Edit] [Talk] Animal Crossing New Horizons is a life simulation game released worldwide on March 20, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch. It is the sixth mainline Animal Crossing game. The main change for this game is the theme of a Deserted Island Getaway. Instead of moving into an existing town, the player helps develop their island from an uninhabited island to a modest town. Gameplay The main gameplay is similar to the previous entries in the series with the player controlling a single villager using tools and interacting with villagers on a real-time schedule. The crafting system expands on what things players can collect and customize. The Nook Miles program is similar to achievements that can help guide players into certain activities. The game features new tools in the form of the vaulting pole which allows players to cross bodies of water and the ladder, which allows the player to scale cliffs. There are later tools that help the player manage and terraform the island. However, the tool system has been changed that the tools now degrade rapidly with use though higher tiers last longer and are more effective. A new feature with New Horizons is the fact that the player can decorate the outside with furniture. This can be stacked like inside decorating with virtually no limitations. Created patterns can also be placed on the ground. Inside decorating keeps the decorating mode from Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer. Crafting System The new crafting system introduces a large variety of new mechanics. Most of the features on the island now produce materials for crafting on top of the normal fishing and bug catching. The trees now produce branches and pieces of wood while all the rocks can now be hit like money rocks to produce materials like stone and iron nuggets. Even trash can be converted into furniture or clothing. Taking these materials to a workbench will allow the player to construct various tools and pieces of furniture. However, the player will need to learn DIY recipes to make them. Several are given to the player in initial days by various important characters while others can be bought with upgrade facilities. Most of them are learned randomly through villagers, messages in bottles and with presents in balloons. The new facilities in towns are now unlocked by providing the proper materials and crafting the appropriate kits rather than supplying enough Bells. Rather than bringing Isabelle around, the player just goes to the spot and guidelines will show where it will be with an option to imagine it to show how it will actually look and what things it removes by being placed there. Any furniture or materials that gets removed will appear in the Town Hall Recycling Bin. The player also has control over where Villagers will move in. However, they need a much wider space than a simple facility for their outside furniture. Additionally, they will need pieces of furniture for both the inside and outside before their house can be built. These items of furniture can be crafted though. Nook Miles The Nook Miles system is an achievement system built into the game similar to badges from previous entries. Players unlock Nook Miles as a reward for completing various challenges and goals with more earned as the player gets higher levels in challenges. The player also gets Nook Miles+ after purchasing a home which are simpler challenges that earn small amounts of Nook Miles. These refresh on a daily basis and change based on what the player has unlocked or caught. Nook Miles can be spent at a Nook Spot terminal after paying off the initial loan for the getaway package. They can be exchanged for upgrades for the player, new hair options, Nook Miles tickets or Nook themed items. The selection expands as the player improves the island including an option to exchange Miles for Bells. Dodo Airlines and Multiplayer At the base of the island, the player can using their island's airport to travel to other islands or to send letters. They can also have the gates be opened for multiplayer. This can be chosen for local or online and can be restricted to a code or just people on the player's friends list. For players visiting another player's island, they need to choose the flying option and select the friend's island. Up to eight players can be on one player's island. The Nook Miles ticket can also be redeemed at the airport. Using one will let the player travel to a random island with a bounty of resources and sometimes a villager. If tools break, the player can spend Nook Miles to replace them or craft them themselves. However, any items left on the island will be lost forever. These islands tend to have rarer resources including occasionally nonnative fruit. There is an option for local multiplayer on the console for up to 4 residents of the island. These players have simplified control with no real inventory. Instead, their tools are used from their actual inventory and anything picked up gets sent to the recycling bin. They also cannot use the crafting bench, enter or exit buildings, or talk to villagers. The main player controls the screen movement with any players offscreen warping to the player. The leader can be changed when they shake the controller and another press a button. This changes the game to their profile with full access to their inventory and abilities. This mode of multiplayer cannot be used with online multiplayer. Save Data The island is shared across the Switch with all 8 accounts capable of making a villager on the island. However, due to this, the game is not supported by Nintendo Switch Online cloud saving feature and the save data cannot be transferred normally. Later in 2020, a save data transfer tool will be available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers that will also allow cloud saves. Characters The game contains both new and returning characters. New characters include Raymond, Audie, Judy, Sherb, Cyd , Dom , Megan, and reneigh. Returning characters include Tom Nook, Isabelle and Slider. Happy Home Paradise A paid downloadable content for the game has been released on November 5, 2021. Similar to Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, the objective for the new campaign is to create new homes for tourists. While available for standalone purchase, it is also be accessible through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack while the subscription is active. Resolution and performance The game runs at 30fps with a maximum resolution of full 1080p in docked mode, and 720p in handheld mode.[1] Development The game was first revealed to be in development during a Nintendo Direct hosted on September 13, 2018, with an unspecified 2019 release date. Although the game was announced in 2018, director Aya Kyogoku confirmed that the game had begun development in 2012, shortly after the original release of Animal Crossing New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan; she stated how concepts for the game were forming long before ideas of the Switch had even existed. At E3 2019, the game's name, Animal Crossing New Horizons, was revealed along with some basic gameplay. The release date was also pushed back to March 2020 during the presentation. On February 20, 2020, an Animal Crossing centered Direct was broadcasted and revealed among other things the function to terraform islands. The game then released on March 20 of the same year. The game reached million units sold at the end of March 2021. Reception Sales With about million copies sold, particularly physical copies in Japan, it is the fastest-selling game on the Nintendo Switch system, and for the Animal Crossing series.[2] In the United States, the game has sold tremendously well with physical sales being the third best launch sales for a Nintendo title, behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Brawl with Pokemon titles being counted separately. Within its launch month, it outsold the lifetime sales of every other Animal Crossing game.[3] New Horizon reached million unit sold worldwide ten days after release on the 31st of March 2020. This immediatly elevated it as the seventh best-selling Nintendo Switch game just behind PokĂ©mon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! Nintendo later put out an update on those sales numbers that state that New Horizon sold in its six first weeks on the market thus outselling every other Animal Crossing game's lifetime sales in that short amount of time and becoming the best selling game in the franchise. As of the end of June 2020, the game reached million units sold making it the second Nintendo Switch game to do so and claiming the place of second best-selling Nintendo Switch game behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. By the end of September 2020, the game had sold units worldwide. The game became the second game on the Nintendo Switch to pass the 30 million unit sold milestone just after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It has reached million units before December 31, 2020. The game reached million units sold by the end of June 2021. It reached million units by the end of September 2021. As of the end of 2021, it reached million units sold. The game reached million units sold as of the end of March 2022. On the controversial side, New Horizons has been banned in China due to it being used by activists as a virtual protesting act against the World Health Organization and secretary Xi Jinping, which included an image of him in a funeral-like environment.[4] Animal Crossing New Horizons marks the longest gap of time without a mainline Animal Crossing game to be released, with the previous installment, Animal Crossing New Leaf, releasing 7 years, 4 months, and 12 days in Japan before New Horizons. Gamers have been moding their favorite titles for decades now. These talented and creative folks have such a big passion for certain games that they take it upon themselves to expand upon them with new content, changes, and even just small improvements they think people would enjoy. They can even turn the game into something entirely different from the original vision, spawning entirely new genres and franchises. However, mods tend to only be thought of as something PC players can take advantage of, but that is far from true. Contents New old charactersPlay as IsabellMore color optionsMore inventory and tradable itemsMore Mystery Island ToursUnbreakable toolsNo more Sea BassBuild more bridges and slopesNostalgic tunesSkip the title screen Consoles are notoriously more difficult for making and implementing mods. However, with a game as massively popular as Animal Crossing New Horizons, there was little doubt people would find a way to make this already open experience even more customizable. From new cosmetics and characters to gameplay and functional changes, here are the best mods available for Animal Crossing New Horizons. You can find all the mods listed below â and many more â for free at the link below. Further reading Animal Crossing New Horizons How to transfer save data The coolest Animal Crossing New Horizons islands Play while laughing with 8 of our favorite funny video game mods New old characters There will be endless debates about which villagers are the best not only in New Horizons but the Animal Crossing franchise as a whole. Everyone has their favorites that they just donât want to let go of. Thanks to some moders, there are a few characters from older titles you can bring back to join you on your island. Most notably, you can add Tarou, Pierre, and Nindori from Animal Forest e+ on the Gamecube. Tarou, who will take the place of Fang on your island, is a complete overhaul. He has his own picture, icon, poster, catchphrase, and personality. The same goes for Pierre, taking the place of Stinky, but Nindori is extra special because he was never available outside of Japan. Even then, you could only get him by using an e-reader add-on. Thanks to this mod, and plenty of others, you can fully change up your islandâs population however you want. If youâre a Persona 5 fan, make sure to check out the Morgana mod, too! Play as Isabell Isabell is a strong contender for the most popular character in the Animal Crossing franchise, so who wouldnât like to be able to play as her instead of just with her? With this mod, you can do just that. Sure, there are plenty of ways you can customize your character in the normal game, but youâre always stuck being a boring old human while your fellow villagers get to be fun animals. This mod isnât just a simple head swap, either â itâs compatible with most clothing options your normal villager has, plus it can make all the expressions you expect. Some drawbacks are that you canât change any of the facial features, which would kind of defeat the point of the mod anyway. Also, the texture quality is a little low, her hair doesnât animate, and they havenât implemented socks or leggings yet. More color options Speaking of customization, if you donât want to fully swap yourself out for another character but do feel constricted by what hair and eye colors are available, this mod adds in a ton of new colors to make your character look exactly how you want. Nintendo has added some new options in updates, but not nearly enough for most people. What might be even better is that the latest update added a beta version of a skin color editor to further customize your villager. While still a work in progress, as most mods on this list are, this mod allows more people to create a character that accurately represents them, which can only be a positive thing in a game like this. More inventory and tradable items There are a couple of parts of New Horizons that just about everyone finds frustrating. Inventory management is just needlessly annoying at times. You are able to eventually increase your pocket size, but items within your inventory can only be stacked in increments of either 10, 30, or 50. That can be very limiting if you plan on going out for a full day of gathering materials and donât want to have to keep running back to town all the time to dump your inventory to make room. This mod is all about convenience. The biggest improvement is increasing all your item stack sizes to 99. However, it does not allow items that canât be stacked to suddenly be able to. Another nice addition included with this mod is the ability to eat and trade insects, fish, and seafood. Itâs a small but welcome way to make inventory management even smoother. More Mystery Island Tours Mystery Tours were a brand new addition to Animal Crossing New Horizons. This feature lets you travel to a random, unpopulated island to pick up materials they might not have or have run out of on their own island, like iron nuggets, rare fish, and exotic fruit and flowers. This mod is more of an upgrade to this feature rather than a complete overhaul. You are still taken to a random island, but with some tweaks. First, the ârandomnessâ is altered, but it also reintroduces some islands into the possible options that were taken out, like Rare Flower, Big Fish, and May Day Tour Islands. As mentioned, everything is still random, but now with more possible options and reasons to keep rolling the dice to see what you discover. Unbreakable tools Keeping on with the quality-of-life improvement mods, we have one that lets you make any tools in the game unbreakable. Weâve all had that moment where weâre out fishing, digging, chopping, or whatever and are forced to stop because our tools disintegrated in our hands. The game is sort of designed around this because there are better, more durable tools you can work up to, but even the best tools in the game can break, making it all feel kind of worthless. This mod comes in three types, so you can even customize how much or little you want to interact with the durability system. You can make only golden tools unbreakable as a nice final reward for obtaining them, make any tool of a higher quality than flimsy unbreakable, or just get rid of durability all together and make no tools break. No more Sea Bass Even the biggest fan of puns got sick of the old âI caught a sea bass! No, wait â itâs at least a C+!â joke that comes up every time you catch this fish. Whatâs worse is just how common it comes up, making the joke feel more like an insult over time. Thankfully, you can get rid of this âjokeâ forever, along with all those useless sea bass. This mod does exactly what the name says Sets the spawn rate of sea bass to zero. It is such a simple mod, but this, and other fish modification mods, are some of the most popular there are. Build more bridges and slopes We already touched on character customization mods, but what about your island? For many people, thatâs even more important than how your character looks. However, once you are able to fully transform and modify your island to your heartâs content, youâll realize that you are actually pretty limited. Bridges and slopes are limited to a measly eight of each, forcing you to make design decisions you shouldnât have to. Well, thanks to a handy mod, that number can up to 32 bridges and slopes. Just be aware of the known issues with this mod, such as only the first eight bridges and slopes showing up on your map, and some bugs that will cause additional ones to turn invisible. Hopefully, the creator works out the kinks, but you should just be aware of them going in. Nostalgic tunes Animal Crossing is the perfect way to unwind and relax. This is the type of game that can bring you back to a simpler time in your life, especially if youâve played the older games. What better way to blend the nostalgia of your childhood with the newest game than to bring in the original soundtrack from the GameCube original? This mod brings in the title screen and hourly music from the original to give you all the good feels you remember. Skip the title screen Last, but by no means least, is another basic mod that, quite frankly, should be in every game. It is such a simple thing to skip the title screen and load right onto your island, but when you think about how much time this will save you, especially if youâre a frequent player, you will wonder how you lived without it. Thereâs really not much to say. Quit wasting time on loading screens and mashing through menus and get right back to the game. Animal Crossing New Horizons may be the hottest game among those recently released, and that's saying something given that the list includes heavyweights such as DOOM Eternal and Half-Life Alyx. Early UK sales data mark this as the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game to date, with the exception of Pokémon Sword and Shield lumped together. It also already surpassed the combined sales of all previous Animal Crossing installments. Our own Dave Aubrey rated New Horizons in the review. Animal Crossing New Horizons is the biggest reinvention of the series' mechanics and core gameplay loop, and that also makes it the best entry yet. This is a completely new kind of Animal Crossing experience while retaining everything you loved about the previous games. You'll spend hours catching fish and bugs, making money to pay off your loan, and do it while having more power over how you customise your experience than ever before. I adore Animal Crossing New Horizons, and this is quickly becoming one of my most-played games on Nintendo Switch. If you've ever had a love slow-paced social sims like Animal Crossing or The Sims, this game is essential. While the game is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, it is already playable on PC too thanks to the emulator Ryujinx. You may freely download the Preview Build, which supports both version and of Animal Crossing New Horizons, on Ryujinx's Patreon. The emulation performance and quality are pretty good, save for minor graphical glitches such as grass having the wrong color and a few missing lighting effects. There is however a bug where the introduction may crash the emulator; the current workaround is to skip the introduction by using a save file, as detailed below. How to install a save file? To install a save file, you first need the save file itself! For Animal Crossing New Horizons, it can be downloaded in this post as an attachment. Once it is downloaded, open Ryujinx and if you don't see the game in the game list, do the following steps Go to Options -> Settings, and click on Browse... at the bottom. Select where your Animal Crossing New Horizons XCI or NSP is stored on your computer, and click Save at the bottom-right. Once that is done, the game should show up in the game list. If it doesn't, then verify that you have selected the proper folder. Right click the game in the game list, and click on Open Device Save Directory It will open the location of the save file that Ryujinx is going to use for New Horizons. After that, simply drag & drop the save file downloaded previously in that folder, and overwrite any file if it asks you to. Voilà , you have successfully imported a save file in Ryujinx!
